So, let me tell you...
As you know I have a slight obsession with vintage blazers. This beautiful orange blazer from Banana Republic may not be vintage but the raw-cut fringe around the lapel certainly reminded me of a vintage motif. I spotted the color and fringe detailing from across the room and just had to try it on. Once I did, I knew it was coming home with me. In addition to the color, the fringe gives this blazer so much character. It reminds me of a contemporary vintage blazer. I love the deep vibrant shade of orange for fall yet it's a color that transcends beyond this current season.
I try not to wear orange and black together because it always reminds me Halloween (is that just me?), but being that we're in the month of October I figured I'd let it slide this time. With that, I decided to wear this gray turtleneck also from Banana Republic to break up the color combo. This merino wool turtleneck is the perfect weight and fabric for fall layers. Not only layering with blazers but with a little silk cami or slip dress as well.
I found these awesome vintage earrings (get a closer look here) about a month ago. I wasn't sure how I was going to wear them, but I just knew that I had to have them. They remind me of something I would find in my grandmother's old jewelry collection. I'm so glad that I got them because I think they added an additional vintage element to this look that couldn't have been done with my go go-to hoops or studs.
Belting blazers, heavy overcoats, dresses and anything else that could be belted was seen quite a bit during the fall 2016 shows. It accentuates the waist so well and gives your look an extra edge.
The blazer and jean combo is a classic and will never go out of style. But this season, try belting your blazers to pump up your looks. I love the rope texture combined with the raw-cut fringe! It'll be fun playing around with this blazer, I can totally imagine styling it in some cool ways - already making this a fall favorite.
