Mint, White & Banana

So, let me tell you...

Ruffles can be a hit or miss for me, but when they're used as a distinct accent it's typically a home run. My friends at Banana Republic hit the nail on the head with this mint green ruffle dress (currently on sale). I loved wearing this lightweight flirty dress, it has a graceful sexiness that I generally don't associate with ruffles. The vibrant mint color and understated pattern is excellent for summer and will be perfect for spring when it rolls around again. Because the dress is so bright, this time around I decided to keep the rest of my accessories pretty neutral. Finishing the look with my favorite nude strappy sandals gave this OOTD a little more texture which I love to play around with in my outfits as much as possible. Speaking of straps, the versatility of the straps on this dress is what ultimately made it for me. They can be worn completely on the shoulders, off the shoulders, or a variation of the two. I wore them off the shoulders for the day because as you know I'm a sucker for anything I can wear off the shoulder. But for the sake of you all, I showed you a few ways you can style the straps. :) I wore this outfit to a family lunch, but it's also a sweet little number to wear for a romantic date with your beau or to brunch with your girlfriends! It's even an easy grab-and-go dress for a last minute getaway. Which is definitely on my list of things to do this summer!

I believe it's important for every lady (and man) to own at least one white button-up, it's a staple piece that always comes in handy. A button-up can transition from day to night, from the office to the lounge in no time, the epitome of versatility. This crisp white button-up, also from Banana Republic (currently on sale too) is a classic because it's light enough to wear during the summer and will be ideal for layering in the fall. Being that the heat isn't always on its best behavior, having a shirt that is breathable and allows me to still look put together when I need to be is key. This shirt, in particular, has a really comfortable fit that I don't have with all of my button-ups without them being slightly oversized. (#Score!) As I mentioned on Instagram, mini skirts have been in heavy rotation for the past two weeks and so pairing this shirt with a mini skirt was kind of like second nature. I decided to spice it up for the day with the pop of yellow and by tying a little bunny knot at the bottom of the shirt to make it a bit more casual while leaving the top buttons undone. You can't see from the pictures, but I also added a little black lace bralette for some extra oomph. And well, the contrast snake print pumps were a must after all of that. :)
