So, let me tell you...
I used to think that date outfits should always consist of a heel. It wasn't until I became more comfortable with myself and my personal style did that idea change. I wore a similar look to this one for a recent day date, and I felt oh so good. Through trial and error, I've realized that I don't always need to be wearing heels to feel sexy. Don't get me wrong, heels are good, but sometimes, sneakers are better.
The original plan for the date was to go on a hike and then grab a bite to eat. However, due to a lack of time and energy, we nixed the hike and planned to just go to lunch instead. Based on our original plan my mind was already set on wearing a casual outfit for the date and even with the revised plan I wanted to stick with that easygoing casual-ish vibe. I decided to wear a Forever 21 bodycon midi dress (I have it in 2 colors: a green-ish one, originally worn on the date, and this red-ish one) and for the sake of comfort I wore a pair of sneakers (a pair of black and white Vans to be exact). However, for the recreation of the original look, I added a little flair to the outfit by wearing my vibrant red Adidas sneakers for a pop of color. I finished the outfit with an oversized menswear jacket because I love the juxtaposition of a fitted dress and an oversized coat. Although, a fitted jean jacket or cropped leather jacket would have worked with this look as well.
Getting ready for a date can be kind of stressful, especially if it's with someone new – trying to figure out the best outfit to wear that makes you not only look good but also feel good. But the best advice that I can give, is to always wear something that makes you feel comfortable. Ultimately, the comfort that you have within yourself will assist you in putting your best foot forward.
